Springfield Healthcare Group

Starting out as a single care home, Springfield Healthcare Group first secured investment from BGF in 2012, to expand its care village model into more locations across the North of England. Now, Springfield Healthcare operates six care villages across the Yorkshire region, providing more than 500 registered care beds and employing 700 people.

During our investment period, we provided a total of £31 million of growth capital, across multiple funding rounds. Our support enabled the creation of new care homes, including a multi-million-pound renovation of the former Terry’s Chocolate headquarters in York. We also facilitated key appointments, including Springfield’s Non-Executive Chair, and collaborated closely with the founder and management team, to help professionalise the business as it scaled.

After a highly successful 12-year partnership, we exited the business in 2024, securing a a strong return on our investment. The exit represented one of the largest ever gains for BGF — the result of shared values, an ambitious and thoughtful growth plan, and an exceptional management team.
