Connected Health gears up for expansion, following BGF investment

It plans to hire an additional 1,000 carers over the next two years, to meet increasing demand for high-quality homecare services across Ireland.

23 January 2025

Leading Irish homecare provider Connected Health has announced a significant minority investment with BGF, as part of an ambitious plan to accelerate its expansion across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

This strategic investment from BGF will empower Connected Health to rapidly expand its geographic footprint and diversify its service offerings, through both organic growth and targeted acquisitions.

Aiming for significant growth

As part of its ambitious growth strategy, Connected Health plans to hire an additional 1,000 carers over the next 24 months, meeting increasing demand for high-quality homecare services across Ireland. This rapid expansion aligns with the company’s mission to revolutionise community care, by leveraging innovative technology and a client-centred approach, to deliver superior outcomes.

Following the BGF investment, Connected Health has taken further steps to strengthen its leadership team, by appointing Scott Christie as Chair, Marc Murphy as Chief Financial Officer, and Theresa Morrison as Chief Operating Officer. Chris Nixon, representing BGF, also joins the Board, ensuring the strategic partnership will continue to drive sustainable growth.

Michael Carty joined the team as Managing Director for Connected Health Ireland in July 2024. A Donegal native, Michael brings a wealth of experience in the homecare sector and is passionate about training excellence.

Dougie Adams, CEO, commented: “This partnership with BGF marks an exciting chapter for Connected Health. BGF’s support will allow us to scale rapidly, both in terms of geographical reach and service delivery. We are committed to creating a further 1,000 jobs, expanding our team of carers to meet the growing needs of communities across Ireland. With a robust governance structure and fresh leadership, we are in an exceptional position to lead the transformation of homecare and continue delivering excellent services at scale.

“The appointments of Scott Christie, Marc Murphy, Theresa Morrison and Michael Carty are invaluable to our future direction. They bring a wealth of experience and entrepreneurial drive that will help us grow responsibly, while staying true to our mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care.”

Strategic expansion and innovation in homecare

With the backing of BGF and the leadership of its newly strengthened Board, Connected Health is set to play an even more prominent role in reshaping the homecare landscape in Ireland. By focusing on organic growth as well as strategic acquisitions, the company will deepen its service offerings and extend its reach into new areas. This expansion comes at a critical time as demand for homecare services continues to rise, driven by demographic shifts and a growing emphasis on community-based care.

“BGF is proud to partner with Connected Health as they embark on this exciting growth journey. We see tremendous potential in the homecare sector in Ireland, and Connected Health’s focus on innovation, quality, and scaling its services aligns perfectly with our investment strategy. Our support will help the business expand its footprint and capabilities, ensuring more individuals can access outstanding care in their communities.”
